I knocked myself up a Montenegrin lunch last weekend and it was GOOD! I made Burek sa Sirom following this recipe. This is reminiscent of burek I’ve eaten all over south east Europe and the Caucuses and it makes for such a delicious snack.
I mixed together cream cheese, crumbled feta, egg, parsley and dill before spooning it on top of layers of filo pastry, generously brushed with melted butter.
This was layered up but then I couldn’t quite understand the overall shape so I just popped it in a pie dish and tucked the ends over and baked it for 20 minutes. It was absolutely delicious fresh from the oven – still tasty cold but I loved it hot.
