Hungary

We visited Budapest for Christmas 2013 and I’d say at least half of my photos are of food and food markets! Chimney cake in St Stephens Square, mulled wine, marzipan, goulash on the Christmas markets, layer cakes and langos are all ingrained in my memory; Perfect winter food.

I remember visiting a food market which basically had two products on sale: Pork and Paprika. We use quite a lot of paprika at home; hot paprika, sweet paprika and smoked paprika – all delicious. We even made our own once from a crazy quantity of heavily reduced bargain red peppers from the supermarket.

For my Hungarian meal I decided to make Chicken Paprika, served with nokedli and Hungarian wine.
